I agree, but this may be a cross-the-Atlantic thingy (tyre -v- tire) or even
arbitrary.  Refer to QPL-81706-16, Chemical Conversion Materials for Coating
Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys.  In blending search terms alodine or alodyne
with "mil spec", I get 1,370 hits for the former, 14 hits for the latter.

Based on recollection of a project from more than 15 years ago that I was on
