Now more and more new portable extension sockets have USB power sockets in addition to normal multiple socket-outlets. What is appropriate standard for this type of product? The following standards have been considered:-
BS 1363-2 As the multiple socket-outlets contain electronic circuitry, it is outside this standard. EN/BS 60950-1 It fits the USB power sockets whereas the 13A multiple socket-outlets are more suitable for BS 1363-2. BS 5733 As above, the product has specific standards. It may not fully applicable for this one. If a product falls into more than one standards, should it apply to them all or the most worst one. Your guidance is appreciated.
