Pressure vessels typically require compliance with the PED 97/23/EC (Pressure Equipment Directive). Another option is the TPED 2010/35/EU (Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive). One could argue that there could be a difference between pressure vessels needing to be occasionally transported and a vessel designed to be routinely transported. In other words, can a PED compliant vessel be transported with supplementary protection such as a robust shipping container or the enclosure itself? Is the intent of the TPED (Pi mark) reserved for vessels routinely filled and transported unprotected as one would find with an oxygen or acetylene tank.
