We have brass threaded caps to put on the waveguides when not in use or stuff
them with copper wool to make a tight seal around the cables inside the
waveguide.

We are Mice Friendly.
I'll put that on the marquee.

Hi Patrick,

The best modification we’ve made to our chambers is the addition of a
waveguide-like tunnel from the outside of the chamber under the shielded floor
to the centre of the turntable for customer cables.

On our FAR it was 150mm x 40mm x 2000mm long
On our SAC it is 100 x 100 x 3000mm long

As soon as you put a cable in, even with loads of ferrites you see small
amounts of cellular radio on the emissions plot but we know to watch out for
this.

For a commercial laboratory the ability to cater flexibly to a wide range of
customers cables, coolant hoses, fibre optics, etc is invaluable. It gets used
almost every day!

All the best
James

Subject: [PSES] Design a chamber from scratch- what are your top 5 features?

Good morning.

I have the opportunity to design an EMI chamber from scratch. I'm
generating a list of all my loved features, and hated features.
Here are a couple that come to mind.

Loved: abundance of overhead lighting
Hated: lighting only with flood lights in upper corners

Loved: replaceable bulkhead passthrough panel
Hated: all of the bulkhead panels at ankle height

If you were building, what is your love/hate feature list?
(spoiler alert- I will copy your ideas into my design!)

Many thanks !
Patrick.
