Many thanks to Jeff Epler who answered my questions on Ubuntu and starting the configuring of EMC2. I now can program the HAL portion of my project (at least I have delusions of being able to program HAL). However, when it comes to hooking it up to a display, I'm once again at a quandry. The "Configuring EMC2" documentation says to modify a sample config directory then edit the EMCINI file, referencing chapter 7 of the EMC2 manual. The EMC2 manual chapter 7 is on HAL internal components.
I see .ini files in the samples (such as mini.ini) which point to a HAL file. Are these the INI files being talked about? Is there some instructions somewhere besides chapter 7 of the EMC2 manual? All I want is a display which will show 3 big numbers (for X,Y,and Z postions), pushbuttons for each to be zeroed, and a pushbutton to zero all. OK, I will probably want to grow after that, but if I can just get a DRO working, I will play around with improvements later. _________________________________________________________________ Your Hotmail address already works to sign into Windows Live Messenger!
