Hi -

You are correct, the 5i20 by its self is not a
complete solution but by attaching it to a 7i30 or
some other PWM drive it makes it a good choice of most
applications.

I am current using one on a machine with a 500W
spindle and have only good things to say about it. I
have in the past build my own L298 based stepper
boards and can only compare to those as reference.

The 10A comment is in reference to boards that Mesa
offers, the 5i20 is a modular approach, only problem
is not all configurations are currently supported in
EMC2, only the 7i30 servo board and even with that you
have to tweak the standard config file that is in the
distribution.
