Hi, Folks:I've recently begun using EMC under Ubuntu from a live CD built about six months ago. I understand that an update is available for automatic installation via the internet.
I'm curious what exactly does the installer update. For example, I've modified the icon on the screen to use the initialization file I customized for my machine, so double clicking on the EMC penguin gets me directly into a properly configured version of EMC. Will the updater revert the icon's action back to the original? What about clearing out the initialization file I have?
Also, I've made a few mods to mini.tcl - the interface I'm using - to show function key ID's on the buttons and to change some of the colors. These changes are in the mini.tcl file stored in my usr\jank .... directory. Will the updater affect this area if there were any changes made to the original mini.tcl. I don't have any issues with having to add my changes to an updated version of mini.tcl, I just want to be sure that my modified version is not overwritten before I have a chance
Thanks, -- Jerry Jankura So many toys.... So little time....
