Yes, I would say the PacSCI is overkill there...

When we get to that stage you can be a beta tester if you like, of course it 
may explode in your face...

No info yet, Just getting first cards made now.


The controller is 1 Axis so you need one per drive. There may be something I 
can do with a cheap FPGA card like the 7I43 to make it a 4 or 8 axis 
standalone controller (no host interface just step/dir or PWM/DIR in and 
Serial out).

Another option is to use a 5I20/5I22/5I23 as the interface and EMC as the 
controller. This would require a FPGA card configuration with quadrature in 
and UART interface out, requiring a driver that supports this configuration. 
This may not be as bad as it sounds as we already have a 32 bit wide interface 
UART config for 5I20/5I21/5I22/5I23 so the outgoing packet is a single 
doubleword write.
