I ran a couple of these several years ago with EMC(1) without any big
issues.  I did have to use a stand-alone setup program to configure its
ports but once that was done it looked like an ordinary 8255 just with a
strange port addy.  Back then there was a German group writing Linux
drivers for these kinds of cards.
