Alan Condit <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: After reading the documentation, I believe that I had mis-interpreted the meaning of dirsetup and dirhold. I tried these parameters for my drives: steplen = 25000 stepspace = 25000 dirsetup = 2000 dirhold = 2000
I was using 50000 base period in my working configs and 150000 in the stepconf configs. I discovered that the it didn't matter what values I put in. Emc2 changed them to the base period. When I did the halcmd save all, the values were the same as before, the only thing that changed them was changing the base period. That doesn't seem to agree with the documentation. The documentation says: • (F L O A T) stepgen.<chan>.steplen – Length of a step pulse (step type 0 and 1) or minimum time in a given state (step types 2-14), in nano-seconds. • (F L O A T) stepgen.<chan>.stepspace – Minimum spacing between two step pulses (step types 0 and 1 only), in nano-seconds. • (F L O A T) stepgen.<chan>.dirsetup – Minimum time from a direction change to the beginning of the next step pulse (step type 0 only), in nanoseconds. • (F L O A T) stepgen.<chan>.dirhold – Minmum time from the end of a step pulse to a direction change (step type 0 only), in nanoseconds. So are you supposed to be able to vary the values of these parameter to suit particular drives or not?
