Hello Pete,

I would suggest running the Ubuntu 6.06 EMC2 Live CD first.
When the system booted, you can run fdisk from a terminal (Applications
menu).
In fdisk you can partition the harddrive as you like (very similar to the
win or dos utility with the same name), basicly you add partitions, enter
the size for them, etc. I bet there are numerous instructions on using fdisk
online (google will help).
After you created enough partitions (both for the BDI install and for the
Ubuntu install) (I would create a / partition for each, and a /boot
partition which to keep common, then a /swap partition -also common); you
can install the BDI first (using the /boot partition, the / partition 1, and
the /swap partition). Then you can reboot and check if BDI works ok.
After that try to install Ubuntu (run the live CD) and install to the same
/boot partition, to / partition 2 and to the /swap (I think the installer
will use the /swap automatically).
At the end of this install it'll probably put all kernels found in /boot
into the menu.
When you then restart and try, both Ubuntu and BDI should work. If the BDI
doesn't work because of a wrong / partition for BDI, you can start Ubuntu
and change /etc/grub.conf - to make sure it points to the right partition.

If any of the above might be too complicated for you, maybe you can try to
contact your local LUG - they can probably help (both BDI and Ubuntu are
fairly easy to install for linux literates).

Regards,
Alex
