i'm not an expert, but i dont think any position critical motion control being done over wireless would be a good idea, especially if it was a cheap wireless solution. I would think that it would be susceptible to noise ad interference, which could cause parts of the machine being somewhere they aren't supposed to be.
Is there any reason you cant just run 4 wires there? or 8 if you want to convert the parallel port to differential logic(3 signals, their suppliment signals, ground and +supply for the differential to open ended logic converter circuit. I would trust copper more than RF.
