It looks like the wiki page is in error. The correct loadusr line is > loadusr -W hal_input -KRAL Dual In the other order, halcmd wouldn't wait for hal_input to finish starting up, so a subsequent 'net' command might happen before the hal_input pins are created; the same would go for a 'show pin' command to see what the pins were.
Not sure if this is 100% of the problem or not, but it sure could be part of it. I corrected the wiki page where I found this incorrect information.
