Alex; I followed the steps from the Wiki page to download the precompiled sim package.
apt-get returned this error - "W: GPG error: http://www.linuxcnc.org hardy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3CB9FD148F374FEF" Searching the Wiki found two pages with "public key" but those were geared more towards submissions than check outs.
