Just a follow-up. I was successful at bringing in several MS fonts noted above and tracing them with Chris' program. After all that, I was toying with the font settings of Gedit when I noticed it gave me a nice viewer of the font set in a scrolling window. As a result, I found one of the ubuntu fonts loaded on my system fit the bill
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-sil-andika/AndikaDesRevC.ttf I also saw Modata and a gothic font that also were good. Thanks for everyones help.
