I've worked with Synergy and the folk at Weber for several years. (Great stuff, great folk.) It is NOT designed to make pretty drawings, rather it is designed to help you remove material using CNC machine tools. That doesn't mean it won't make drawings but it asks for things like the material you want to cut and the tool you want to cut it with first off. Most all of its configuration stuff like posts and tools and such are constructed using plain American English. It does take some time to get a handle on the logical relationships between these files but it is really nice if you are an open-source sort. That should not be taken to read that the system is open -- but the configs work like Unix folk tend to think. A while back I heard some rumors of special pricing on the CAM system that most of us would qualify for. You might ask.
