Is anyone using the Mesa 7I42TA to interface with the Mesa FPGA boards? I've got a couple of questions if anyone using the board already would have time to answer. I'm trying to figure out everything I need to order to get it up and running.
Is it good enough for interface with servo drives and limit switches or do I need more protection like optoisolators? My servo drives from ebay arrived and the servo drive inputs are opto isolated in the drive. Do I need two optoisolators, one in the drive and one to protect the mesa fpga board? Are the input pins pulled up to +5V? Or do i need external pullup resistors for encoders and limit switches? Is it just the 50 pin ribbon cable that connects the 7I42TA to the fpga board or do I also need to supply external +12V and -5V for the diode clamps?
