I am willing to install EMC for my waterjet machine on PC with Intel
D510MO board.
I have 2 GB of RAM, i hope that it should be enough, I have not yet
decided, what to do with hard drive - initial plan was having a
compact-flash card with 4 or 8 GB capacity in a SATA adapter, but it
has been a month already since i bought them on eBay, so now i have
started to reconsider that usual USB flash module would work also - i
just would have to look for some faster one. The board (including D510
Atom CPU) costs ~100 USD in my country, the RAM is used, got it for
~20 USD, SATA adapter was ~4 USD, CF card would be ~25 USD, i already
had old case and PSU and PCI card for the second LPT, so total
additional cost would be ~150 USD.
That was for the question, regarding the cost of PC for EMC.
I have not been able to run the latency test (I do not have spare SATA
HDD, where I could install EMC for testing purposes), but I feel
confident that this board with dual-core 1,6 GHz CPU and 2 GB of
memory should be able to handle the task.
I have a question, how do I make onboard LPT port on the D510MO card
to work (there are pins on the board for the LPT port, cable and
bracket with the female LPT port are used to get "normal" port). What
i tried, was entering "lspci -v" command in terminal and here is what
i got:

>From the last group of entries I understand that Ubuntu (i have booted
Lucid from my notebook's HDD) finds the PCI card with the second LPT
port, but i do not see that onboard LPT is recognized. I have checked
the BIOS - the port is enabled. I have tried to search the web - the
only problem regarding this board and Linux, is the issue with onboard
LAN card driver.
Where is the problem? What else should i check?
