All the CNC4PC boards I've tested have been lacking in design (mounting)
and performance using old legacy components. 

I'm not singling Arturo out here, most breakout board purveyors (I chose
that word carefully) have not progressed past designs that can operate
at much better than multiple uS switching rates. 

I've seen current production opto isolated boards still using CNY75B
optos.

It takes that opto 4.5uS to turn off, and 5uS to turn on
again, think about that with pulses that may have to be 5uS long,
there's little or no headroom before lost pulses at even 25kHz.

Even Mach can output 100kHz on a parallel port with a fast PC!

Mounting is the least of your problems when the basic unit is poor.
