At it's core, MBed is just an Arm chip on a board, with a bit of supporting
circuitry. It is certainly possible that the board could be discontinued,
but rolling your own boards would be trivial. That seems like the obvious
next step for this project, once the bugs are worked out, regardless of the
underlying architecture.
