It looks like if you use the 10.04 Ubuntu and a recent 2.4 EMC distribution, these quirks may all be taken care of.
It seems the ONLY issue right now is using this board with my NON-EMC diagnostic program. I may eventually figure out how to perform the same procedures as Jeff's code does as part of my diag.
