Humm, I haven't tried mine for a while either, having found it difficult, even with wide dead bands, to make a straight line move with my Saitek version of that same game pad. So I came to the conclusion that it was nice for bragging rights, but not for a real world use scenario. I doubt I will ever try to resurrect it again. I have some other joysticks that have an end of handle swing covering about a 3" square, but they are nothing but the pots & would need lots of electronics wrapped around them to function as USB joysticks.
