Perhaps LinuxCNC behavior was changed when the G10 L20 feature was added.
Since Axis takes care of all this mumbo jumbo with the touchoff button,
I have
not used the G10 in a long time. My notes from back then definitely say
that
a G10 L2 was relative to current position. What I have there says that if
you want the current Y position in the G55 system to be Y=5.0, you would
give this command :
G10 L2 P2 Y -5.0

The description in the user manual is almost completely incomprehensible.
G10 L20 makes a little bit of sense, G10 L2 makes no sense at all.
Everything
has to be referenced to the machine coordinate system at the lowest level.
I have no idea what the "origin" means. Is it a direct offset added to the
machine coordinate system? Not at all clear from the description.
But, I never even want to know about the machine coordinate system.
The only thing that makes sense when setting up is where the machine is
NOW, because I can measure from that.

Jon
