Hello all; New touch probe (from cnc4pc) attached to an input on my Gecko G540. LinuxCNC 2.5.0, upgraded last weekend.
I got a routine from the www.linuxcnc.org web site (topic 18421, dated 4 months ago) with "center_material.ngc" Working through it, it does Z, X, but fails on the Y axis. error "Probe is already clear when starting a G38.4 or G38.5 move". Munging that ngc file; changing the parameters to readable names, and I work in metric; G91 G38.2 F#<FASTPROBE> Y#<Y_SIZE> (probe end of Y) O181 IF [#5070 lt 1] (MSG, Probe not complete Y missed) G90 M2 O181 ENDIF M1 ;;slow probe here (debug, A) G38.4 F#<FASTPROBE> Y-.50 (back probe off target) O182 IF [#5070 lt 1] (MSG, Probe not complete Y did not clear retract) G90 M2 O182 ENDIF The G38.2 works; the G38.4 fails. q1) Why fail on the Y axis, when the same routines work on X and Z axes? q2) This was a known bug, but fixed a while ago. Or did it not get fixed for Y axis?? q3) This routine is on the linuxcnc web site; why am I having problems, or do others??? thank you; ----------------------------------------------------------- John A.
