I think cheap Chinese granite surface plates would
be even better, since they are a lot thicker and
flatter than countertops.

There have been some benchtop mills using
polymer concrete I think.

Valen has a partly ceramic mill, I think.

I am rather intrigued by the idea of mounting linear rails to a
granite kitchen worktop to make a lathe.
(But I really do like lathes more than mills)
