I'm not much of an artist because I don't have "the eye" for the visual arts. My artistic expressions are more in the engineering realm. My preferred medium is electrons. But I can usually get GIMP to do whatever I want. Changing EMC to LinuxCNC doesn't sound very challenging, and I'd be glad to do it. Bit banging. Pixel pushing. Whatever. I like the LinuxCNC artwork. I appreciate the artistic skill and the result is quite pleasing. I may not be an artist, but I know what I like. However, I have been a bit frustrated in the past that the LinuxCNC art was apparently created at such a low resolution that it limits the use of the images for large screen images (full screen wallpaper) and printing (where 2400 DPI is generally required to look good). It's easy to reduce the resolution of an image. The other direction... not so much. Unfortunately, I lack the artistic skills to faithfully recreate the images at higher resolution. > I am sure EMC Corp takes exception to this too. I'm still a bit bitter about this too. It seems to me that the two markets were different enough that nobody would confuse the two, and therefore no intellectual property infringement existed. It also seems to me that legal matters are similar to sorcery. Whoever can cast the best spell wins. For profit corporations can afford a lot more lawyers than open source communities. It's Suits versus Smelly Hippies. Suits win! And for what it's worth, my guess for the name of the LinuxCNC mascot was Chipper. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn the latest--Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, more!
