I have about 3 gallons, so that is 12 L. You say "small mill", the coolant system I mention above is on a Bridgeport mill with a 1 Hp spindle motor. If it is fully enclosed, then the splashing is less a concern, but you still can't use more than a few L/min or it will blow your coolant nozzle apart. I use the 1/4" Loc-Line series, and just one small nozzle. A Litre of water per minute can remove a LOT of heat.
