That I suppose could be, there is something funkity in the cable if its hanging precisely so where it comes out from under the change gear cover, bothers me very occasionally, and I thought about that, but the pulses from the encoder are present and functioning as I can see the LED's for that from my position as the C1G interface is visible to me. > What version of LinuxCNC are you using, and what hardware interface for > the motion? Next to last build, 2.5.3.37, it crashed last night as it was about to install the latest 2.5.3 from the buildbot. I've now installed 2.5.3.45. Motors are all steppers. a 425 geared 2/1 on Z, and a 252 on X, direct. And it did that, and one other really odd thing after I had rebooted it just now to play some more. I saw both that, and about a 2 minute pause that is not in the code, just once. I did find the source of a funny rattle while the spindle was running, it seems that I had chosen to run at the exact speed where the wcomp.1 that helps stage the braking and detect a nearly stopped (15rpm) condition so its safe to reverse things, was rattling one of the braking relays, so I'll need to lengthen my legendarily long hal file some more and interlock the braking relays so they are only enabled when actually stopping. The relay had no effect on the motor as its connection is the back side of the run relay. But the rattle of the ice cube was pretty plainly audible. Sounded like the back gearing had sand in its craw. :) Thanks Jon. Cheers, Gene -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
