Dear all,

I am new to this list and would like to thank you for your hard work.

Recently, I bought two STM pick and place machines, model Euro Placer
300, a French made pick and place. These are very old models from the
1990s running under DOS.

Surprisingly, the machine is a very good and stable with a weight of
400kg. It has a double vision system (one on nosel, the other on
bottom), a vibration system and 70 loaders of components (each with a
small motor). It can handle components of 0.6mm, but the list of
components is somehow locked-down. Also, I don't know how to get new
parts for the machine, so I plan to use the second machine for parts.

I am planning to migrate the machine to LinuxCNC. There reason that I
believe that would extend their livetime ... This kind of machine is
nearly unbreakable.

This machine is so good-looking that I believe that it could handle very
precise parts, maybe 0.2 mm. The only limit is vision analisys. Without
vision, you can place parts up to 0.6mm. Below, you need vision.

How should I proceed? Like a normal CNC : motors X, Y and Z and then
pick and place and finally vision? Are there users sharing the same
interest for pick and place?

Any comments are welcome.

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel
