Thanks all - ran my machine with tool in air, spindle off, for just over 3 hours, and it lost about 1/2mm in the X direction, so it looks like I'll have to re-visit the G540 tuning, and so forth.
I had this issue a while ago, and thought that it was solved, but it's still there, after 3 hours. (quite a few arcs are being cut, so it exercises the ability for both X and Y to track properly) Sigh - here comes the screwdriver set again... (Michael - had a bit of a look, will look further, Jon - did not know about the "run from line", either.
