I recommend Dell Optiplex desktops bought through eBay. Some of these come off lease, and are relatively new. The parallel ports are very well-engineered, and I'm sensitive to that as my boards (Pico Systems) need the IEEE-1284 (EPP mode) to work correctly. I just retired a Dell Optiplex that had been my desktop for TWELVE years, that 105,000 hours! I got it used on eBay but it was fairly new when I got it.
