Microcenter isn't the same as Best Buy by a long shot. No cell phones,
no video games, no music/movie disks, no appliances. Just computers
and associated stuff, and thus a lot more selection in those areas. Lots
of computer parts, motherboards, cases, disks, etc. Much deeper selection
than Best Buy. For example, I needed an Ethernet switch recently. Just
a plain old 8-port unmanaged switch. I'm sure Best Buy would have had
one. Microcenter had about 30 _different_ switches, from 5-port desktop
to 24-port rack mount, $10 to $250.

My local Microcenter has dramatically expanded their hobby section,
they have Raspberry Pi's, Arduinos, shields and capes and such,
lots of Sparkfun products, solderless breadboards, etc.

For most people they won't replace the Shack, simply because there
are far fewer stores. But if you are lucky enough to be close to one,
they are pretty darn nice.
