Aram, For your purposes of running machine tools with linuxcnc, consider a mini-itx motherboard with an x86 or amd64 processor to be a "single-board computer" of $100 cost. There are bleeding edge efforts being conducted to run linuxcnc-based software on BeagleBoneBlack single board computers, but those efforts are not to the point that you could set up and run one of your machines with the BBB.
