I have my lathe and mill set up with ssh and also have wake-on-lan configured, so I can boot the machines from the Mac in the living room. I can then ssh -Y to put the LinuxCNC gui on the Mac monitor, and (in theory) run the machines. A much more typical use is to wake-on-lan the machines so they are booted when I get to the workshop, set up and start the job, then close the workshop and turn the lights out, and go back to the Mac and ssh -Y andypugh@mill.local halcmd -kf loadusr -s pin motion.program-line Which pops up a little window on the Mac screen which shows me the progress of the job, and which (usefully) shows "0" when paused waiting for a tool change or manual unclamp of the rotary. -- atp If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dive into the World of Parallel Programming The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel and developed in partnership with Slashdot Media, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials and more.
