Gene:
McMaster Carr has metric version lovejoy couplings available, in most of the
standard sizes.

I integrated a lot of 7i39's, thus I know them well enough.

But they are rated at 250W, HV version limited to 7.5A per phase, which,
when reached, makes quite big torque gap, so it is not recommended to
use 7i39 near its maximum current limit.
I even found better lead angles not to trigger 7i39 overcurrent
protection, solved over-voltage problem while decelerating.

I would say 250W-300W is their maximum limit, while 250W rated motor can
get or even deliver 750W power temporarily, which is very useful for
acceleration or other temporary load conditions. Not to mention
averaging of sines, which shows 7i39's even weaker.

Pico BLDC PWM servo amplifier is something I considered earlier, but did
not choose as it has no sine commutation capability. I am looking at it
with new eyes. I could use it for some applications.

I know IRAMS module, but I doubt they are capable to deliver 10-15 Amps
per phase, which are needed for such voltage motors of similar power.
Yes, IRAMS could be great for higher voltage motors..

Looking from economic point of view it would be great to have amplifiers
for such motors in a price range between 60 and 110 USD for one motor IMO.

Greetings all;

The screw kit came in today, looks to be decent, but came with Lovejoy
style couplers, 2 for a 3/8" shaft motor and one for a 1/2" shaft motor.

Unforch, the 470 oz/in XY motors have an 8mm shaft, where the 1600 oz/in
Z motor has a 14mm shaft. This kit as bought from a separate vendor.

Anybody wanna trade half lovejoy parts, I have 3 in inch, 2 @ .375" and 1
@ .500", need 2 @ 8mm and 1 @ 14mm. All in 4 legged cross pattern as
the center element.

It did not come with any instructions, and I have gone back thru the
packing 3 times. This is the $699 kit from a David Clements in the
cactus patch, and while his phone number is listed, its not in service.
The Y axis in particular looks to be a puzzle as the nut doesn't appear
to have a mounting tab as used by the grizzly part.

Thanks guys.

Cheers, Gene Heskett

You can buy just the individual hubs from MSC.

Those that pop up under a search for lovejoy, have only the faintest
resemblance to these, and are easily 4 or so times bigger.

The only one that resembles these is their # 35407022, but it says the
max bore is .500", and I need a 14mm bore while still being a 2 legged
hub. I'll go measure these for OD & see if they have a part #. Nope,
well polished alu, 30mm OD, 35mm assembled length,.3748" bore & I need
an 8mm bore. Going up in bore size but holding to the same family so
hubs would interchange, the up stops at 1/2". No 14mm in that frame
size.

McMasterCarr has similar items, but something north of 50 bucks for all 3
pieces. Thumbs down. On both hands. MSC sells at 1/4 that. I'll go
search fleabay after din-din.

Thanks for the introduction, Gene. I'm that lurker!
George Ramsower, just north of San Antonio.
I do like my "Micro Mill" as they are called but I just call it a
"Desktop Mill". Lately, I've been creating the rest of an alphabet. I
already have 0-9 numbers and nine alpha characters written.
As I get better, I intend to get back onto this particular software
project.
The objective here is to be able to make mail box tags and see if
anyone will buy them. If there aren't any sales, it's not a big deal as
then I can make one for MY mail box. That's all I really wanted to do
anyway! I'll end up with labels and tags on several things around here.
Then I can get back to building parts for my next steam engine.

George R

Welcome George. We don't bite very often here.

I engraved a brass plaque, for beside the doorbell, and for the mailbox.
I had this brass kickplate laying around getting scuffed & nothing
better to do for a few hours. ;-)

while I have your attention, the hobby shops sell brass tubeing that each
size telescopes in the next size or or down. For a piece thats 3/8" OD,
what is the bore size? I need to shim a couple of lovejoys that are
3/8" bore, down to 8mm to fit some big honky nema 23's. Do-able?
