Is this not a bug then?  It sure seems to fit the description.

I looked at that, the manual description  didn't appear to be what I 
wanted. I'll re-read it again. Maybe I didn't understand what I was 
reading.  IMO if a plain G92 X0Y0Z0 is also diddling with the machine 
map established by homeing, thats a bug.  A humungous one at that.
