please keep us informed of your project.
I have a SMAC ( not SMC) thats rated 5G's
but only 15mm stroke and 1um renishaw scale ( also ebay find)
It uses a voice coil to get the speed and accel, no screw involved.
The acceleration we're playing with makes control difficult.
the counts are just ... fast!
