(3500 Lbs, 15" Sheldon R15-6, very high-end model). It took 2 years and one back (mine) to rebuild it. But, it is a FINE machine, now that I put the effort into it. SO much better than the Craftsman toy I had before. You always had to be real careful to not set up a chatter on the Craftsman, it is practically impossible to have chatter on the Sheldon.
So, yes, you really owe it to yourself to get decent tools that are capable of doing the type of work you intend to do.
