"Thermistor" is the generic name for a device that changes resistance with temperature. I believe that they are available as both NTC and PTC (negative/positive temperature coefficient) devices. As noted in my earlier email with the TM symbol a "Surgistor" is a name trademarked by Stetron that has now expired.
