You have probably already realised that you can't use the Smoothstepper with LinuxCNC. For the parallel port interface (assuming you want hardware step generation) then the Pico USC s likely to be a simple thing to plug in and wire up. http://www.pico-systems.com/univstep.html At much lower cost, but with more configuration to do, and either making a breakout to suit or by buying a breakout from Mesa there is the Mesa 7i90HD http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=83_85&product_id=291 For an Ethernet solution the Mesa 7i76E is probably what you want to be looking at: http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=290&search=7i76e Note that that needs a different version of LinuxCNC, for which (as far as I know) there is no live-CD install. You need to install normal Linux, then an RT_PREEMPT kernel and LinuxCNC from the package manager. -- atp If you can't fix it, you don't own it. http://www.ifixit.com/Manifesto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience.
