Hi Gene,

what are you talking about?
My setup uses a Raspberry Pi 3 plus a Mesa 7i90.
The raspi and the 7i90 ar connected with just a 6-pole ribbon cable.
It provides up to 8 channels steppers and servos etc.
And it needs a case with just 1 liter capacity. The whole setup.
 
Costs:
raspi3 = 35.00$
7i90     = 59.00$
case    = I dont know... ;)
