SPI is however very cheap but have limitations, cascade coupled is similar to Ethercat working principle but at least some micro controllers have FIFO and then cascade coupling will not work. I have decided I will use Ethercat at least sometimes if not everywhere. So right now I am looking at Linuxcnc implementation and hardware.
