Greetings, re the SainSmart interface bob. They are so desperate for customers at Mach, that there appears to be a copy of Mach-3 on the cd. Jeez.
This is so damned windows centric that I had a heck of a time getting the mini-cd mounted, but the docs, once I had printed the pdf, seem fairly complete. The board appears to be bigger than the propaganda photos, so I may have to resort to a different mounting location in the big box. Thats doable although a PITA. It does however claim a bandwidth of 10 megahertz, so it should handle this encoder just fine. But thats not the /real/ pita. Parport pin 14 is not on the i/o terminals its apparently spindle motor relay control, and on a 5i25, is the pwm signal from the 5i25's pwmgen.0. So, some hot air to extract the relay I might be able to use elsewhere. Find the buffered relay coil drive and jumper it to one of the now missing relay's 3 output terminals. I ought to be able to do that easily once the relay has been stashed someplace I'll likely forget till I stumble over it again. Those white 4 pin plugs fairly scream for a matching cable to be plugged in as opposed to using the green screw terminals, because to use those I'll have to open them with a prybar as I have yet to get a wire smaller than 16 gauge to force its way into that style of terminal, when the leaf, driven by the screw, is already pre-bent into the closed position by some ID10T driving the screws home with it empty. Maybe to keep the screws from jiggling out in shipment, or maybe just because it looks neat. But it makes the use of the plugs more desirable because exactly the same problem exists if you have to disconnect something for troubleshooting. Surely the Mach users have a src for those. So where can I src a 10 or even a 24 pack of those, with at least a foot of cable? Thanks everybody.
