There are some small config changes needed from 2.5.4 to 2.7.14 and
some major config changes needed from 2.7 to 2.8

But it is likely that the update manager is suggesting updating from
2.5.4 to 2.5.5 and that should certainly be safe.

2.5.4 is really quite old.
