I have compiled on buster although on an ordinary computer, first time I hade to manually downgrade a few packages but do not remember the last time. Got a few ordinary computers a while ago for 420SEK = around $40-$50 each in average a short while ago. A few of them with dual monitors, though not the best model available with good performance so they replaced or are replacing my ordinary computers while the old ones go for Linuxcnc.
