Looks like wayland has struck, this is:
cat /etc/debian_version (new way of determining version)
 10.1

Whats next? locate says theres glib-2.0 installed.
 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/glib-2.0, and
 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libglib-2.0.so.0

Is it useable? Will a fresh git clone help, that one's about 3 weeks
 old.
Have a shot at a fresh copy:
 git clone git://github.com/linuxcnc/linuxcnc.git linuxcnc-dev
And I get to the exact same bailout msg
 from ./configure --with-realtime=uspace
checking for module installation directory... configuring for
 run-in-place
 /media/pi/slash/linuxcnc-dev/rtlib
checking for glib... configure: error: no -- required until somebody
 makes glib optional

So, what do I do next?

Thanks all.
