This 6040 spindle seems to be an ER-11, a 1/4" spud on a cheap probe is a
fight to get it into the biggest collet.

I've been there but thats pretty rich for a guy on SS. Since its almost a
1 shot, I've considered putting the drill in a vise, I bought the
smallest decent quality one I could find for the 6040, and slowly
lowering the spinning 1mm collet with the nut just barely tightened,
onto the drill but I'm afraid the drill would get caught and broken.

Yes it does, but if I buy, I'd like to buy the whole kit and pitch this
$25 dollar kit in half a mm increments I already have. But I'm more
likely to try drilling out what I have. I have several Dremel kits that
go down to #80, and might be able to sneak up to a tap drill for 0-80
that way.

Thanks Martin
