The tabs (in the ini file) I am familiar with, apply to the backplot
area, not the right hand panel. Is there an example in that 800 some
page doc?

That would be possible, and with a PGain of 20 or more, it generally does
exactly as I tell it, but I'm used to the eye candy.

I would, if the tach was turned off, need to add some sort of an
indicator that an overcurrent is being detected by Jon's pwm-servo
driver as my ears don't always hear the motor iron chirp when that kicks
in at about 17 to 18 amps. It actually runs pretty quietly.

I don't believe that driver module has an output to tell LinuxCNC when
that is happening. I might be able to blink a video LED with pid error
output going above a set point, but I can think of conditions that would
falsely trigger that too.

It the new high res encoder it is so stiff there is no audible indication
of a spindle speed sag before that overload point is reached.

I can however think of modifying the gcode that automatically changes a
single stroke rigid tap operation to a peck till done operation using
that signal.

That could be quite usefull in combination with the automatic depth
control to stop the overshoot from bottoming in the hole and breaking
the tap. I have the test code for that running on the Sheldon, but to
complete that I'll need to probe the hole to determine its depth, the
tool holders I asked about a day or so back are part of that, and much
of that hal code can be ported to the G0704 config. Probing on the G0704
is a manual tool change problem but not impossible. Getting the debris
out of the hole to get a good measurement is a bigger problem.

Thanks Andy.
