And the SPI interface is even faster for the 7i90, I am writing to it at 
39something megabits, in 32 bit chunks and reading its responses at 25 
megabits in 32 bit chunks.  And the SPI doesn't go thru any of the speed 
killing usb stuff on the pi's, its directly on the arms gpio, so the pi3 
can also do it pretty well too. The 7i90 is cheaper too, until you add 
the 7i42TA's to convert its 50 pin scsi connectors into terminal strips, 
But when you have done that, you have 72 gpio pins, and with that you 
can wire up the world. I still have around 30 unused i/o pins after 
hooking up the fault circuit from my new 3 phase Z driver.
