I'll have to verify that, Andy. If that is the case, there must be
something else afoot. Perhaps just a small, take up the gear lash move
and kill some time before getting serious with the torque might work to
trigger the backlash move. Gear lash is only a degree or so but that
s/b several counts of the encoder since the scale is just north of
14,000.

But it may take a bit, my wife has reached the end stage of her COPD.
Hours, maybe a day or so left. I was invited to come and visit yesterday
despite the covid lock down. And I'll go back today. Struggling to
breath, her BLOX was 78% when I walked in the door. That's not good.
I'd guess her weight as < 60 lbs now. That Y where the collarbone
splits at the base of her neck, is a hollow at least 2.5" deep now. And
they just called ay 7.15 AM urging me to do a ten-eighteen and get
there.

Can this tap holder handle the 7/8" diameter tap hats I have made? They
are keyed into the R8 by a cap screw in the side engaging a cutout in
the lip of the R8 holder, and the tap is precluded from any rotational
slippage by 4 grub screws gripping the square at the rear of the tap.

Its worked quite well, totally stopping the slippage of a tap in a ER
holder. A pair of 15" wrenches on the TTS and ER nut can't pull it tight
enough to stop the slippage. The hats do.

Probably later, when the above is done.
